Prisoner of War Camp

This picture was taken in Beuthen Lipine Prisoner of war camp in 1918. (Today this is a city of Bytom in Upper Silesia, Poland.) My grandfather, Charles William Cook, was a Private in the Middlesex Regiment, he joined up in 1916. Previously he was a farm labourer at Bar Farm in Longstanton. After the war he became a signalman on the railways at Harston Station. He was born in Longstanton in 1892 and died in Cambridge in 1969
