James Thomas Howlett

Private James Thomas Howlett, another of the family of 8 sons/sons-in-law who fought in WW1. James was the son of Mary and John Howlett of Diamond Hall, Gorefield. He served in the 1st Battalion Suffolk Regiment, and his service number was 8780. He was killed on 6 Oct 1916 in Salonica and is buried in the Lahana Military cemetery from the Gallipoli campaign. He is commemorated on the Gorefield war memorial, and this photo is in Gorefield church.
