This exhibition is part of the ‘Great War – Between the Lines’ project, which aims to raise awareness of the Great War and its Centenary commemorations. Partners from across Northern France, Belgium and the UK have chosen 6 themes through which to explore their shared experience of the Great War. The themes chosen cover music, family, British troops on the Western Front, total war, hidden stories and military logistics.
‘Mother, Father and Child in 1914-1918’ explores the impact of the war on each family member. The exhibition looks at children’s toys and schooling, women becoming the head of the home and entering the work place, the father in the trenches and correspondence between home and the front line.
By placing these exhibitions in public places we will bring the story of the Great War to you.
